Republic Day Celebrated in Reading

Reading, UK

Nepalese living in Reading UK organised a special celebration to mark the declaration of republic in Nepal. Around 50 men and women joined the informal gathering and congratulated each other in a jolly mood. Participating in an informal interactions, the participants extended best wishes for new Nepal and vowed to continue to be united under the Nepalese Alliance for Democratic Republic Reading UK in order to collectively support the Nepal's transformation process and exert pressure as and when necessary. The speakers admired the great role played by the Alliance during the Janandolan II in April 2006.

Nepali Alliance for Democratic Republic is a loose alliance forged among the Nepalese and friends of Nepal living in Reading and other parts of the UK during the course of Nepal's People's Movement II in 2006. The Alliance had then organised a mass demonstration in Reading and raised over NRS 100,000.00 in support of victims of the Andolan in Nepal.
