Condemn King's Refusal to Respond to Judicial Commission

Press release

Nepali Alliance for Democratic Republic, Reading, UK condemns King Gyanendra’s refusal to reply the question of high level judicial commission headed by Krishna Jung Rayamajhi formed to probe the suppression of peoples’ movement in April this year.

The act of King is completely against the spirit of the parliament’s proclamation unanimously passed by the parliament in May and against the aspirations of the Nepalese people, who want to completely abolish the monarchy, the main source of political instability in Nepal for centuries.

The king’s rejection clearly shows that he is responsible for all the misdeeds committed during his autocratic rule and killing and suppression of people during the popular movement in April 2006.

This also shows that King Gyanendra is not in favour of the people’s wishes, parliamentary supremacy, rule of law and democratic values and norms. King is the source of anomalies and instability in Nepal as he does not follow any rules and refuses to act in accordance with the law of the country.

Nepali Alliance for Democratic Republic wants to condemn such anti democratic behaviour of the king and urges all political forces including the seven parties’ alliance, Maoists and civil society to be vigil against such activities of the king.

As a head of the government, the king must take responsibility of the suppression of people’s movement-II and misuse of state fund for his dictatorial rule. The Commission must take a bold decision against the King’s acts and the reports of the commission must be implemented by the government.

The Alliance urges all to be united against the regressive forces and move ahead for the establishment of peaceful and democratic Nepal resolving all political problems of the country through peaceful means.
